A little ditty I call my life that is an endless improvisation

with many complex chord changes

Take a listen

Over the weekend I had a little time to devote to a long lost passion, composing music. One day I hope to get back to making a living with music. Just wanted to share a brief rough first recording I made with this piece.

As far as the piece goes it is fun, light and energetic. Much like my little boy. It simply based on the major pentatonic scale. There is a perpetual motion flowing between the melody, bass line and percussion. I hope you enjoy listening and let me know what you think. It is titled "Dancing in the Desert"

Adorable Laughter

Photos from my son's afternoon g-tube feeding while watching "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" one of his favorite movies. I got very lucky to capture some of his expressions of laughter and joy. Hope you enjoy seeing these.

Remember as we give thanks...

"As we pause to thank Him for the blessings of the past year, we must not forget to thank Him for the lessons we have learned through our difficult times. We are not to be thankful for just the pleasant, easy things, but ALL things." [Millie Stamm]

Are you an intelligent music lover?

Read this on the University of Georgia Trombone Studio feed advertising their concert. Absolutely love it!! Just had to share. "If you're an intelligent music lover - you'll come check out the UGA Trombone Ensemble concert tomorrow evening. 6pm in Ramsey Recital Hall - admission is free. For everyone else...there's always Justin Bieber!"

Photo Gem

Img_00000151

This photo was taken from the summer of my son. This was his first outing adventure. We are not able to take him out much by doctors recommendations due to his health. However this opportunity to let him experience the zoo was too good to turn down. He had a wonderful time and it was so heart warming to watch him. We hope to 'sneak' him out again safely when we can. Maybe the aquarium next time.

Hope you enjoy the photo.

Listen and be amazed!

We hope everyone enjoys these samples. This demonstrates the listening therapy ( Aural Rehab) is helping our son develop his listening skills. We feel confident that he is slowly but surely opening his hearing pathways and benefiting from his bone conduction device because of the Aural Rehab. This time last year, Elias was still not responding to sounds with the amplification. Persistence and patience are proving to be rewarding with these recordings being the initial payouts. While there is still a long way to go, the promise this shows is significant. Hopefully these recordings will bring a smile to everyone's face hearing this progress.

In the file Elias_Babble 1 you can hear him saying 'baby.'

On the file Elias_Babble 4 aboutt the 17 second mark you can hear him softly say his approximation of "bubbles."

The other four files (2, 3, 5, & 6) are just babble with various letter sounds he has been making.

Non-verbal hearing impaired son, picture exchange, & sarcasm

Yes indeed, that is my boy! Today during his in home speech therapy my son showed his communications skill very well. There was no denying his intent. His joint attention was superb and the persistence was everything she has been wanting. Be careful what you wish for I warn. Based on the progressive looks on his face after several attempts, I can imagine if he could speak or we could read his mind it might have gone something like this:

'Lady I'm communicating here. What part of me giving you the playpen card don't you understand?'

He was tired, not feeling his best and obviously was trying to tell us he had no intention of working today. She smiled after the 6th exchange attempt and said, 'excellent job. I think we are done for today.' Classic moment and unforgettable memory. Thank you son. I Love You!
